What consists of a Pump Station?
Holding Tank: Holding tanks are constructed from various materials. The most popular are concrete, poly or fibreglass.
They come in a wide range of shapes and sizes. Their application and installation location determine this.
Pumps: Submersible-type pumps are the most common pumps used in pump stations. There is a pump to suit all applications, and this is determined by what the pump is to move. The height and distance of what needs to be moved is also taken into account when designing a pump station.
They can be either 240v or 415v
Floats: Floats are used inside the holding tank to determine when a pump is to turn on/off. They are also used as high-level alarms. They are wired to an external control panel.
Control Panel: The control panel is located adjacent to the pump station. It controls the operation of the pump and also has an alarm to warn if the system has an issue, or the pump has failed.
